How to find and filter transactions
Each account in Provestor has its own list of transactions. This guide explains how to move around that list, narrow it down to what you're looking for, and spot months that need attention.
Open an account's transactions
In your business workspace, choose Record keeping, then choose the account you want. This could be a bank account, a cash account or a letting agent account.
Transactions are grouped by month, with a heading such as "April 2026". You can collapse a month to hide its transactions. If a month carries on from the previous page, its heading says "(continued)".
Choose the year
Use the year dropdown at the top of the list. You can choose:
- A tax year, such as 2026-27 (6 April to 5 April)
- A calendar year, such as 2026
- All, to see every transaction in the account
Use the arrows next to the dropdown to step back or forward a year.
When you open an account, Provestor shows the year you last looked at for that account. If you haven't chosen one, it shows the current tax year while any of its quarterly updates are still to send.
Jump to a month
On a computer, a strip of months sits above the list. Choose a month to show only that month's transactions. To show a range, choose the first month, then hold Shift and choose the last one. To go back to the whole year, choose the toggle at the left of the strip.
A tax year starts and ends in April, so the strip shows April twice: once at the start and once at the end.
Months with no transactions are greyed out. An amber marker shows a month with transactions that need attention. Hover over it to see what needs doing, for example "2 drafts, 1 conflict, 3 not allocated".
Tip
Before you send a quarterly update, check the strip for amber markers in that quarter's months. Clearing them first means fewer warnings on the quarterly update screen.
Filter the list
Choose Filters to narrow the list down. You can filter by:
- Dates: enter a From and To date, then choose Apply dates. Both dates must fall within the year you've chosen.
- Property: choose a property, or No property to find transactions that haven't been assigned to one yet.
- Status: choose Drafts to see transactions you haven't confirmed, or Conflicts to see ones that need reviewing.
To remove all your filters, choose Clear filters.
If nothing matches, you'll see "No transactions to show". Try a different month or year, or clear your filters.
Change the order and number shown
Transactions are shown oldest first. On a computer, choose the Date column heading to switch to newest first. On a phone, use the Oldest / Newest option.
If an account has more than 25 transactions, you can choose how many to show at once at the bottom of the list: 25, 50, 100 or All.
Provestor remembers your order and page size on this device.
